Anderillium Luna Moth Green

Ink Review #6

*Please note that the scan is the accurate representation of this color.

Overview

The color/properties:

Luna Moth Green is a soft pastel green that shades crisply between a pale and more vibrant minty green. I wouldn’t say that the ink shades heavily by default, and I didn’t notice any significant variation between the different papers I tested on. Depending on the pen though, you may notice some hints of yellow-browns where the ink doesn’t pool, especially with the larger nib sizes. Even more rarely, you might notice some subtle pink notes. These results would be highly circumstantial, however.

Performance on paper:

Luna Moth Green has great performance on paper. I didn’t run into any issues with feathering or bleed-through during most of my tests, except for 2 tiny, almost imperceptible spots on the Kokuyo sheet. The dry times were just a hair above average: the needlepoint through the medium nibs all dried faster than usual, but the other nibs generally experienced normal dry times of around 15-20 seconds, if not leaning towards the lower end of the scale on most papers.

The water resistance wasn’t great. A lot of the ink washed away, but there was some retention, especially where the ink laid down heavier. Your results may vary widely though, and I wouldn’t expect much out of it in terms of water resistance.

Performance in the pen:

This ink performs wonderfully in a pen. Luna Moth Green has a medium-dry flow that was congruent across all the test nibs. The nibs felt nicely lubricated and had a notable silkiness to it that made the writing experience quite pleasant. I didn’t run into any hard starts, skips, or stops during the tests, and the ink was very easy to clean, washing out of the pen nearly instantly, and leaving no noticeable stains or residue.

My personal thoughts...

I was excited to write with this ink when I first opened the bottle, and I still am now. This is a great color that I think would be excellent for spring and summer. The green is pale and soft, but also vibrant enough to provide this ink with a near ethereal appearance that’s eye-catching in real life. It even carries subtle hints of brown and pink. Anderillium did an excellent job capturing the color of a luna moth (and for Souls players, a certain large butterfly).
