Diamine Inkvent 2023: Day 19 — Cinnabun
Day 19!
It’s the final week of Inkvent 2023. For day nineteen, we’re checking out Cinnabun.
The color/properties:
Cinnabun is another scented ink! Does it smell like a cinnabun? Yes…if you were to give an AI a bunch of chemicals and ask it to recreate the scent of a cinnabun. What about the color though! Does it look like a cinnabun? I’m so glad someone asked! No. Not really. It’s too flat. Too faded. There’s no crisp. There’s no deep golden brown cinnamon spiral. There’s no glaze. This isn’t a warm and delectable cinnabun. This is a raw and defeated cinnabun.

Rhodia
Leuchtturm
How did it perform?
Cinnabun didn’t perform well at all. It bled and feathered all over the Leuchtturm page. At the very least, this one didn’t leave bits of ink all over the page behind it like Sweet Dreams did. That’s not saying a lot. It didn’t feather on Rhodia during the writing samples, but it did while swatching. I’m sure at this point you might expect that there was a very wet flow, and there was. But it was a very watery wet flow. There’s so little lubrication while writing with this ink. It’s not pleasant. Thankfully, it cleaned easily. It only took a basic flush and soak to get rid of all of the ink, and the smell didn’t linger.
My personal thoughts…
This is the biggest disappointment of the year. My eyes glistened in anticipation when I opened door 19 and read “Cinnabun.” And then I turned the bottle over, saw the word “scented,” and promptly turned off everything and went to sleep.
Cinnabuns are sacred. Why would they do this? I didn’t enjoy the smell — I endured it. Actually, I endured the whole thing. I was only able to write one paragraph of the writing sample before I simply had enough.
Thanks, I hate it.
