Diamine Inkvent 2023: Day 23 — Fireside Snug
Day 23!
Welcome back! For day twenty-three of Diamine Inkvent, we have Fireside Snug.
The color/properties:
Fireside Snug is a standard ink. It’s a fiery orange that shades with a soft and cloudy gradient between its various tones. Its shading effect reminds me a lot of Diamine’s popular fall-themed ink, Autumn Oak. I don’t want to seemingly dismiss it by just saying “it reminds me of Autumn Oak” because that would be a terrible injustice. Fireside Snug stands on its own. It’s a much warmer and deeper color by comparison, but also more vibrant overall.

How did it perform?
Fireside Snug had great performance. It didn’t bleed or feather on either of the test papers, and it had a medium flow that was consistent across each of the test nibs. It wasn’t especially slick, but there was enough lubrication to provide a comfortable enough writing experience to still be enjoyable. The color cleaned out easily, as well. A single flush and soak had the water running clear through all of the nib units, and there wasn’t any lingering color or sediment inside the test pen.
My personal thoughts…
Earlier this month, Bah Humbug won the award for my favorite name in this year’s calendar. Fireside Snug gets the award for the cutest name across all of the existing Inkvent calendars. I love it. I love the color, too — I think it’s a perfect color for winter, but it would be a fitting ink for fall, as well. I’m also happy that there’s another color in this year’s calendar that doesn’t have any particulates in it. It’s warm. It’s complex. It’s perfect. It’s in my future cart.
