Diamine Inkvent 2023: Day 8 — Jacaranda
Day 8!
Welcome back! Today, we have Jacaranda.
The color/properties:
Jacaranda is a standard ink. The color is a pastel purple. For such a seemingly light color, it’s surprisingly vibrant to the naked eye. It doesn’t offer any sheen, but the shading tones are excellent. I wouldn’t go as far as to call it a multi-shading ink, but comes quite close. Instead of hard, crisp shading, it has a softer, cloudy effect, that provides a lot of subtle variation in its tones. The more I look at it, the more I notice hints of pink. I think it’s a great color and an excellent representation of the flowering plant from which the name is derived.

How did it perform?
Jacaranda’s performance was great. I had expectations that it would be a somewhat dry writer, but it wasn’t. It had a medium flow and adequate lubrication for an enjoyable writing experience. I didn’t experience any hard starts or skips while writing, and it didn’t feather or bleed through either of the papers. Cleaning was simple as well. The water ran clear after a single flush and there wasn’t any lingering color in the pen or nib units.
My personal thoughts…
Yes! Another instant buy for me. I love this ink. It’s an excellent and complex color and, as mentioned, one that I’ll definitely be buying as soon as it’s available. One could argue that it doesn’t make a lot of sense as an Inkvent color — it looks like more of a spring/summer purple than a festive winter purple. But in the southern hemisphere (specifically Australia), where the holidays are in the middle of summer, the jacaranda seems to be associated with Christmas, which falls a bit after peak blooming season. I think it’s a creative and fun addition to the Inkvent lineup. Well done, Diamine.
