Diamine Inkvent 2023: Day 13 — Weeping Willow
Day 13!
Welcome back! Let’s talk about Inkvent Day 13, Weeping Willow.
The color/properties:
Weeping Willow is a standard ink, but it has remarkable shading properties. The base color is a pastel beige that shades with a crisp and high contrast in tone where the ink pools. Within the base color, there are notes of green and pink that, if dark enough, can appear red. A lot of this color variation won’t necessarily appear in normal writing circumstances, but in the correct conditions, it is possible.

How did it perform?
Weeping Willow performed well. There wasn’t any bleed-through or feathering on either of the test papers. It had a medium flow, and I didn’t experience any hard starts or stops during my tests. The ink was slick enough to make the writing experience comfortable but still tactile. Cleaning was as expected for such a light color, and the water ran clear with a basic flush, without any remnants of color left behind in the pen or nib units.
My personal thoughts…
Weeping Willow is fantastic. It’s a beautiful and unique color that has a lot of character thanks to its high degree of shading. There’s a likelihood that this one might appear too pale to many individuals, but I’m not personally bothered by it. Initially, I wasn’t sure it was in theme with Inkvent, but after some additional reflection, it does accurately portray the dull grey/brown that a willow tree takes on in the winter. This one will be making it onto my shelf without question.
