Diamine Inkvent 2023: Day 18 — Blizzard
Day 18!
Hello again! For day eighteen of Diamine Inkvent, we have Blizzard.
The color/properties:
Blizzard is a shimmering ink with bright silver particulates. The base color is a frosty blue that’s similar to Diamine Glacier (from Day 11) but a touch darker, and more muted overall. Blizzard shades lightly with a crisp cut between its lighter and darker tones where the ink pools. The tone variation isn’t high, but it’s enough to make the shading easily visible.

How did it perform?
Blizzard has a medium flow and provides ample lubrication for a comfortable writing experience. I didn’t run into any clogs or hard starts during the tests, and there was a consistent and even shimmer distribution, with minimal need to agitate the pen to keep it flowing. I didn’t experience any noticeable feathering or bleeding during my tests either.
The color washed out of the pen cleanly, but after multiple flushes, I ran into the same dreaded haze that some of the previous inks left in the pen. Once again, it required the disassembly of the pen to scrub out.
My personal thoughts…
It’s almost as if they looked at Glacier and said “I want that again, but at night!” Yeah, I’m a little disappointed. On its own, Blizzard would be just fine. It’s a good winter color, but it’s so similar to Glacier. Why? I’m sure there will be plenty of people who prefer Blizzard, but to me, Glacier is better and more fun in every way. If there’s any kind of positive to this I can think of, it’s that now I can easily see just how brilliant the shimmer in the star bright ink is by comparison. In the end, I still don’t think this ink needed to happen, at least not in the same calendar. I don’t like the film it left behind in the pen either. I’m sticking with Glacier.
