Diamine Inkvent 2024: Day 16 — Tundra

Day 16!

Welcome to day sixteen! Today’s ink is Tundra.

The color/properties:

Diamine Tundra is a standard ink. It’s an earthy grey with light brown undertones that shades with a crisp cut between light and dark tones of the ink as well as crisp edges around pooled areas in the writing. You might notice the swatches and splats take on a more purple tonality compared to the writing samples, and that may very well be possible if you can lay this ink down enough with a pen.

How did it perform?

Tundra performs well. It has a medium flow, and especially for a lighter ink, it’s lubricated enough to be a comfortable writing experience (but if you prefer a much slicker ink, this isn’t going to be for you). I didn’t run into any hard starts, skips, or stops during my writing.

Cleaning the ink out of the pen was very easy and the ink washed out in a single flush.

My personal thoughts…

Yay! Another grey! I’m a fan of this one, but I have a small feeling that this ink might be easily overlooked — it’s not all that interesting at a glance, but I appreciate those fine complexities that come out the more you look at it. I love to see a grey ink with such heavy, earthy, brown undertones. I think it does a nice job of giving off a tundra-like atmosphere too. The absence of any kind of shimmer or special properties is welcome and makes it a great well-rounded choice for a winter ink. If it catches your eye, definitely don’t sleep on this one, it’s cool.
