Day 20!

Welcome to day twenty! Our ink today is Potpourri.

The color/properties:

Potpourri is a standard ink. It’s a pale purple with subtle grey undertones and shades with a crisp cut and dark outer edges between the light and dark tones where the ink pools in both print and cursive. There’s not a lot of tonal variation, but the shading is still plenty noticeable.

How did it perform?

Potpourri has a dry flow, and while it didn’t lead to any hard starts or stops while writing, I don’t think it was the most pleasant writing experience. The flow at least remained consistent throughout my writing and I didn’t experience any slowdowns that required me to stop writing. It wasn’t the best, but I don’t think it’s something a wetter-tuned pen wouldn’t fix.

There weren’t any difficulties cleaning this ink out of the pen, and it only required a single soak and flush.

My personal thoughts…

Thank goodness, it’s not scented, because I took one look at the name and before turning it over to see “standard” I was on the verge of tears. I was prepared to like this ink after that — the color looked good and I thought it had a lot of potential, but I also feel like it’s thematically reachy. I suppose it’s not entirely inappropriate, but I also don’t look at Potpourri and think “It’s that time of year!” If we’re talking strictly potpourri though, sure, the color gets that across nicely. Regardless, the writing experience unfortunately fell short. Maybe I’ve done too many of these in a row at this point but doing the writing sample for this became fatiguing fast. Still, I can’t help but feel like I should give it another chance in the future, so maybe I’ll do just that.
