Diamine Inkvent 2024: Day 22 — Nutmeg
Day 22!
Hello! It’s the 22nd day of Inkvent and today’s ink is Nutmeg.
The color/properties:
Nutmeg is a shimmering ink. It contains golden particulates over an earthy grey-brown base color that shades noticeably darker, with a crisp cut between the two tones where the ink pools in both print and cursive.

How did it perform?
Nutmeg has a medium flow and is lubricated well enough to be comfortable; it’s not overly slick but it doesn’t feel dry or grainy either. It was well-behaved too: I didn’t experience any hard starts, skips, or stops during my tests, and the shimmer was well-distributed with minimal need for agitation. As a side note, I had to restart the writing sample after I was nearly done, and I can confirm that the flow keeps up with fast and annoyed writing quite well.
When cleaning, the color washed out of the pen quickly, however, there was a remaining ring of shimmer that wouldn’t wash out. It wasn’t a lot, but it still required the disassembly of the pen to remove with a cotton swab.
My personal thoughts…
Despite the earlier matter testing my patience, I still came out of this one with a lot of positive thoughts, so I want to preface this next part with this: I like this ink. Cool, moving on. Nutmeg Isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the season, but it had me go “Of course!” as soon as I opened the door and read the name. And then I thought about it some more. It’s a great ink, sure, and I know nutmeg is a spice often used in many festive and wintry dishes and desserts, but I don’t know. A lot like day 20’s Potpourri, this feels peripheral at best. Otherwise, I can’t say anything bad about it.
