Diamine Inkvent 2023: Day 25 — Raise a Glass
Day 25!
Merry Christmas, readers! The final day of the 2023 Inkvent calendar is here! For day twenty-five, we have Raise a Glass.
The color/properties:
It doesn’t state the type of ink that it is anywhere on the bottle, but Raise a Glass is another one of Diamine’s “chameleon” inks. Chameleon inks are a type of shimmering ink with particulates that are supposed to change color depending on the lighting or viewing angle. Like most of the other chameleon inks, I didn’t notice any major changes in the color of the particulates. The shimmer mostly appeared green to me. The base color is a deep midnight purple that’s dark enough for the shimmer to stand out clearly from the base color.

How did it perform?
Raise a glass performs well. It had a wet flow and felt well-lubricated across all of the test nibs. I didn’t experience any clogs or hard starts, and the shimmer distribution was even across each of the test nibs, though the particulates were noticeably more concentrated with the fine nib than the medium and broad. There wasn’t any noticeable feathering or bleed-through on either of the test papers. Cleaning required a few soaks and flushes before the water ran clear, and unfortunately, this ink left a slight haze inside the test pen that required disassembly to be scrubbed out.
My personal thoughts…
When I opened door 25, my immediate response was disappointment: I swatched the color and thought it was yet another rehash of Nightfall and Astral from days 5 and 20. I had a hard time maintaining any kind of enthusiasm for it. It wasn’t until much later when I was taking extra photographs for the reviews that I first saw this ink in a different light: it’s a cool color. Not only do I like it, but I’m much more fond of it than either Nightfall or Astral. After some reconsideration, I think it’s a great Inkvent ink, but there should have only been one of the three in the collection.
