Diamine Inkvent 2024: Day 2 — Wilted Rose
Day 2!
Hello everyone! It’s day two, and today we have Wilted Rose.
The color/properties:
Diamine Wilted Rose is a standard ink. Initially, I wanted to call it a pastel pink, but I don’t think that’s quite it. Like the ink’s name would imply, it’s more of a faded (dare I say) “wilted” pink — it’s almost as if they took a drop of black ink and added it to a brighter pastel pink. I don’t normally test the chromatography of inks during Inkvent like I do for normal reviews, but I’m very curious to see it for this one. It shades nicely too, with a soft gradient between light and dark tones where the ink pools, and possible light edging around the letters depending on how much of the ink is laid down.

How did it perform?
Wilted Rose has a medium flow that’s better than I expected for an ink of this color. It was smooth enough for a comfortable writing experience. There were still a few hard starts with both the broad and medium nibs however, and after a while the flow slows down and starts to give a feeling of dryness. It might have a hard time keeping up with fast writing.
Cleaning the ink out only required the standard soak and flush, but even if you’re not able to soak the nib units, it shouldn’t take long to clean this out.
My personal thoughts…
It’s funny that they would release Wilted Rose on the same Door 2 as Cashmere Rose from last year, and I wonder if that was intentional. Personally, I think I prefer Cashmere Rose to this one, although I don’t think Wilted Rose is a bad color. I wouldn’t call it festive, but a faded pink is a great color for winter. It’s darker, less vibrant, and more edgy. The name works and describes the color well, but I’m not entirely sold on it. Compared to other similar inks, it feels a bit lifeless to me. When I can’t stop comparing it to inks I prefer more (like the warmer Cashmere Rose or even Ferris Wheel Press’ Lady Rose), I don’t see myself picking up a full-size bottle or even finishing the little one I have here. Other inks already fulfill my dusty/pastel pink needs, but I do think this will be a nice addition to the market.
