Day 7!

Hello everyone! For day seven of Diamine Inkvent, we have Lemon & Lime.

The color/properties:

Diamine Lemon & Lime is a chameleon ink — it has particulates in it that are supposed to change color depending on the angle the page is viewed. The base color is a pale yellow-green that doesn’t have as much shading as I would have thought; there’s some minor tonal variation where the ink pools but not much more. What I did notice more than the shading is how the shimmer gains a more golden appearance when the ink pools heavily enough. As for the chameleon effect, I mostly noticed blue, especially in writing. I was able to see some pink in the splats and swatches when viewing them at awkward angles, but I don’t think this is the best example of the chameleon effect.

How did it perform?

Lemon & Lime isn’t the best performer. It has a dry flow and a noticeable lack of lubrication that made for an overall sandy feeling and unpleasant writing experience. At the very least, I didn’t have any clogs or hard starts during my writing.

The cleaning experience was as expected. The base color washed out quickly, but like many of Diamine’s Chameleon inks, there was a strong haze left over inside the pen that required disassembly for cleaning.

My personal thoughts…

Well, we had a good run. I’ve had plenty of time to think about what I was going to write about this, and honestly, I still don’t know. The dryness wasn’t even the worst part. It was so hard to see it while working on the writing samples, I had to step away from it multiple times out of frustration. There was nothing enjoyable about it for me. Am I missing something? Is Lemon & Lime even within the theme? Would that even make it better? I don’t think it would. It’s like writing with Kaweco highlighter ink, but even paler, sparkly, and more upsetting. I guess if you want to write with a bottle of glittered Surge this is for you, but I don’t know what else to say about this ink other than thanks, I hate it.
